Improving Residents Lives: Expanding Public Transportation

Mobility is a necessity in our lives – not a convenience. If we do not expand the availability and affordability of public transportation for residents who travel within the County and for those who commute outside of it, our roads will remain congested and people will continue to not be able to get to good paying jobs.

Increasing the availability and affordability of public transportation will be increasingly expensive for the County over the next 5-10 years.

Where will the revenue come from?

The Digital Gateway is the only answer.

County Staff have said that data centers have generated a total of $101,420,000 in revenue from all taxes in 2022. County Staff have said that in April 2022, there were 5,491,575 square feet of occupied data centers. County Staff have said that by July 14, 2022, there were 5,801,575 square feet of occupied data centers.

Assuming an average throughout 2022 of 5,800,000 square feet of data centers paying various County taxes, this means that every square foot of operating data centers generated $17.48 in total County taxes in 2022.

The 27 M square feet of data centers planned for Digital Gateway would generate, assuming no tax rate and assessed valuation increases or reductions, approximately

$472 Million in total tax revenue when fully occupied.
