Next Year's Predictions for The Best Hiking and Biking Trails in Northern VA...

We predict that two more PWC trail networks will make the Top 20 in coming years...

The Neabsco Boardwalk and

Catharpin Greenway!

In this year's Top 20, Prince William Forest Park made the list, but no other places in PWC... PW Forest Park is great, but the Neabsco Boardwalk is pretty darn good! We predict that next year, The Best Hiking and Biking Trails in Northern VA will include the Neabsco Creek Boardwalk and its connection to the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail. The Boardwalk trail is part of Neabsco Regional Park and showcases Woodbridge’s most valuable natural asset – the Potomac waterfront, by linking historic landmarks such as Rippon Lodge and Leesylvania Park. The Boardwalk encompasses educational sites and highlights native wildlife and plants.

When the PWDG CPA is approved, twelve miles of multi-use trails will be added to the County’s inventory – linking the Catharpin Greenway (Silver Lake) to Conway Robinson State Forest, Manassas National Battlefield Park, Catharpin Recreational Park, and 370 acres of new parkland, including significant portions of Lick Branch, Little Bull Run and Catharpin Creek.

The area surrounding this new trail network in western Prince William will consist of 5,910 acres of public parkland and state forest (including a connected Manassas National Battlefield Park, Catharpin Park and Conway Robinson State Forest). The additional 370 acres of new parkland will connect the existing 5,540 acres of existing parkland by twelve miles of multi-use trails and natural area corridors.

It is likely that in 5+ years, Prince William will have a third trail network honored as being within the Top 20 in Northern Virginia.
